Threads of Me: Kente for Show and Tell

Summary: When Mr. Washington asks the class to bring in something for show and tell that represents who they are and where they come from, Ama rushes home to get ideas from Nana. Nana reaches into the vast collection of her stories and retells Ama the story of Kente, a handwoven fabric once reserved only for the royalty of the Asante Kingdom in Ghana. Join Ama as she learns and shares her rich culture and family heritage with her class.

About Me

I am a children’s author, wife, and mother of three children.

As a child, I loved to write, but my journey to becoming an author began once I had my own children. My writing is inspired by motherhood, travels to more than 20 countries on five continents, my Ghanaian heritage, and my life in the United States of America.  I am on a mission to enrich children’s literature with books that celebrate and educate children about diverse cultures from around the world.
